Daniel W. Mooers began representing people in Maine in 1968 when he graduated from the University of Maine School of Law and joined the Portland law firm of Bennett, Schwarz & Reef as an associate. The following year Norman Reef and Daniel Mooers established the law firm of Reef & Mooers, first with an office on Congress Street in Portland and then later for many years on Portland’s Pearl Street, next to both the state and federal courts. Known first for representing people injured in automobile and industrial accidents, Reef & Mooers promptly gained a reputation as unyielding litigators, using commitment and skill to assist their clients, and soon they expanded with an extensive commercial litigation and business practice. They also became known for taking unusual and complicated cases other lawyers would not accept or which were thought too difficult to pursue. In 1986, when Norman Reef retired from the law practice, Daniel W. Mooers & Associates was established in Portland’s Old Port area, and, today, the firm continues its heritage as a law firm for compassionately assisting people who need help, representing the injured, and aggressively guarding the rights of individuals, small businesses and associations.

The lawyers of Daniel W. Mooers & Associates, LLC, have the determination and skill to take a case to the courthouse if it cannot be fairly settled. Our attitude is that, from the moment we take on a new client, our focus in on preparing the case for trial because we know that cases that are properly and aggressively prepared for trial are the ones most likely to be settled with favorable results.
